Geen dood ontstaat in het getal,
dat mij met u verbonden heeft.
Er is niets in het toestel
dan het suizen van de eeuwigheid.
Misschien dat zich nog eens herhaalt
een oogopslag, een siddering
van zijde, die nog niet verging,
en dat het hoorbaar wezen zal,
o teken, dat u overleeft,
om zich te voegen in de ring
cijfers mijner verzerkering.

1. "verzerkering" is a typo, it should be "verzekering" (insurance, assurance). I checked with the Achterberg-concordantie: http://achterberg.ontheweb.nl/. It seems a lot of people have copied this confusing typo ("zerk" happens to be a relevant word even though "verzerking" does not exist.)
2. I'm not very good with poems; I might replace it and I invite any other native speakers of Dutch to make a better version.
